The 400 has evolved from the successful 350/390
line. Aesthetically, she is a mix of traditional and
modern lines, which makes her a bit odd at some angles, but she
always gathers admiring looks from other boaters in the
anchorage. One of the nice features is the lighted overhang
shading the saloon windows from the midday sun and lighting the
walkways in the evening. The fuel tank humps in the walkways of the
390 have been eliminated by raising the entire main deck about
6 inches. The swim platform bussel has been removed and the hull
lengthened about 36 inches. |

The transom door has been moved to one side which should allow
access to the swim platform, even with a small dinghy on the swim
platform. The straightened staircase to the flybridge makes much
better use of space in both the cockpit, and on the flybridge. There
is storage under the staircase for buckets and brushes. The
overhangs have gutters that drain thru the rear supports and then to
overboard drains at the transom. This should help keep rain and
condensate from streaking the cabin wall. |

All the windows have
been restyled and frames upgraded to polished aluminum.
The rounded corner window frames and a steeper windshield angle
give this boat a "salty" look. Plenty of hatches and portlights for
ventilation. Center windshield section also opens |
The addition of the dinette
allows the convertible sofa to be used as a third bunk space,
without the need to move the Hi-Lo table around as in the
390. |

Stella Blue's galley has
corian countertop, double bowl sink, three burner stove and oven,
6.8 cu.ft. refridgerator/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, and lots
of cabinet space. |
In the 390, cabinets obstructed much of
the window view. In the 400, the full height of the taller saloon
windows are open to full view and give the boat a larger and more
airy feel. | |
