12 Volt DC System

2 - 8D flooded cell batteries that serve as house and starting duty are connected though a Perko heavy duty 4 position battery switch. The switch is mounted in a primary distribution panel. This primary distribution has curcuit breakers that feed all 12 volt systems on the boat except the bow thruster which has a seperate fuse. The 4 uppermost breakers are 50 amps each, and feed the main panel in the cabin, the electronics breakers on the flying bridge, the upper helm main, and lower helm main. This is important to know in the event of an emergency. If there was an electrical fire for example, in the electronics leg of the system, turning off all breakers in the cabin will do nothing for you. That leg is feed directly from the battery switch panel.

The remaining breakers feed the bilge pumps, shower sump, oil changer and connection to the battery charger from each battery. The CO detectors have a fuse 10 amp fuse in the same panel and the windlass has a 90 amp push button breaker.

A 400 amp fuse is located below the battery switch panel for the bow thruster.
